Bit of a snowstorm here so not the best spellwork and had to use quite a bit of our budget on mittens and hot cocoa. No reliable witnesses, but target could have been traveling in a disguise. Still waiting for information about the report of an illegal portkey and whether or not it was related to our target. Remember, all non-Ministry searchers should be teamed with an Auror, Hit Wizard, Magical Animal Handler, or other individual certified in apprehension and transportation of a high risk target at all times. Namely the parts about being sure that you actually are going to go through with breaking up. Arguing means you still care. Both of you. So don't try and tell me you think he doesn't give a shit. That is, in fact, exactly the opposite of what's going on. The results on the Hogwarts owl came back, and with no useful information, other than further supporting the fact that Marcellus appears to still be in London. I'd almost rather have gotten news he was in Russia. I could mount a rescue mission to Russia. Mounting a rescue mission a few blocks from your hotel? Or in Bloomsbury? It sounds ridiculous. There has to be some explanation for why, if he's so damn close, he can't tell us he's fine. I might go back into work if I can't sleep again tonight. I know I can't set a bunch of Aurors on a case which isn't really a case yet, but I can still try to see if there are any patterns in the paperwork that might give us a clue. You should stay over at Lake Cottage again soon. And try talking to Draco, about something other than Marcellus. You can argue if you have to, since arguing counts for something, but talking is better than arguing. And that's so obvious we didn't even put it in the rules. -Tonks |

| 9:25 pm | Owls sent to: Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, Horace Slughorn, Viktor Krum, Ron Weasley Update protocol [784-4] Auror Nymphadora Tonks Case Subject: Marcellus Dolohov-Snape Classification: Pre-official status X5: POI (Person of Interest); X34: Auror Relative - Hogwarts bird (Eagle owl, tag 576-eo-h) still undergoing trace testing at Ministry Facility 5.9, last update 6PM. - Three Ministry Class 1 test owls returned each after 1.45 hours, appeared confused, letter undeliverable and opened. - Follow-up visit with Viktor Krum confirms information in Evidence Envelope 2 (owl-delivered letter.) Krum exhibited no traces of Imperius, Obliviation, or other conciousness-tampering. Auror notes: I'm wishing Marcellus and I had established some sort of private and secure person-to-person communication method. We spent the war on opposite sides, for Merlin's sake, we ought to have come up with something. As it was, I was either breaking into his house or he was breaking into mine, so, that really did us no good other than to know each other's tastes in wards. I have a number of theories, and thus potential avenues of investiagation, but the longer we don't hear from him, the more ridiculous those explanations seem and the suspicios I become that he has actually been kidnapped, captured, or detained. | 8:53 pm | Auror Field Training Report, Form 8, part 2a: Keycode 7438wcd, reporting official: Auror Tonks Noticed a storm on the horizon about an hour ago. Not ordinarily a problem since the trainees have all passed level 4, which covers weather issues, but apparently this area of Pembrokeshire suffers from intermittent magical dead zones when storms pass over the coast, something Dawlish does not appear to have researched. (Add a note to Auror Lively's file: excellent at proactive research.) Forecast from the storm (as per a local Muggle at the docks) is heavy winds and rain, possible flooding of low areas, expected to lessen around 4 AM. Decision as it stands is to continue with the field exercise. NVT |
